Nurse Manager of Women's & Children/RN

Full Time Director of Women's and Children/RN, Under the direction of the ACNO/CNO, the Nurse Manager has shift responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care throughout the hospital and in all areas. The Nurse Manager has authority to make decisions in the absence of Administration in the areas of patient care, human resource, and financial management.

  • Clinical competence of nursing practice in acute care.
  • Leadership ability and managerial competency. Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills and abilities to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, confront/resolve issues, motivate others, ability to plan, and organize and direct the activities of others.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, Medical staff, or public groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowing the rationale for and the effects of medications and treatments and correctly administering the same.
  • Accurately reporting and documenting the patient’s symptoms, responses, and status.
  • Implementing measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others.
  • Implementing measures to prevent exposure to infectious pathogens and communicable conditions.
  • Respecting the patients right to privacy by protecting confidential information unless obligated or allowed by law to disclose the information
  • Promoting and participating in patient education and counseling based on health needs.
  • Collaborating with the patient, and other members of the healthcare team, and when appropriate the patient’s significant other(s) in the interest of the patient’s health care.
  • Consulting with, utilizing and making references to appropriate community agencies and healthcare resources to provide continuity of care.
  • Making assignments based on delegated authority to assign employees using independent judgment taking into consideration patient safety, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
  • Hiring & termination of employees will be approved by CNO. 
  • Graduate of an approved School of Registered Nursing. 
  • Bachelors in Nursing or health care related field preferred, or written plans to obtain a Bachelors degree within five years required. 
  • Two of more years of progressive experience in nursing in an acute care setting required.
  • Consider the hospital’s scope and complexity and the position’s authority and responsibility.
  • Consider the scope and complexity of the nursing-care needs of the major patient population(s) served. 
  • Current Oklahoma state registration as Registered Nurse. 
  • BLS 
  • ACLS / PALS
